How to Plan a Treasure Hunt for Preschoolers
A short treasure hunt can give younger children a sense of discovery without a complicated setup. Choose three or four easy-to-reach places in a familiar room and keep an adult nearby.
Use pictures, colors or short clues that a grown-up can read aloud. For example, a clue might point to a basket where toys are put away. Place the next card at that spot, and give the first card directly to the children.
Leave time for exploring rather than racing. If a clue is difficult, offer a hint or make the sound of the object together. A handmade certificate or shared snack can be the final surprise.
Check for small parts, sharp edges and climbing hazards before play. Adapt the route and the language to your child’s needs.
