Backyard Scavenger Hunt Ideas for Kids
A backyard can become a small world of discovery. First walk the area and choose boundaries that children can see. Keep clues away from gates, tools, water and plants you cannot identify.
Invite explorers to notice a flowerpot, a garden chair or an outdoor toy box. Write a clue for each chosen spot, hide the following card there and keep a list of the route for the grown-up.
Add a gentle challenge: notice three leaf shapes, listen for a bird or describe a cloud. Children can observe without picking plants or disturbing animals.
Supervise the group, check the weather and collect every card when the hunt is finished. If rain arrives, move the route indoors.
